Dea Elementa was an interactive projection created for the 2023 VONK festival that invited visitors to engage with the four natural elements.
Developed in collaboration with Studio de Maan, the work served as a social playground at the heart of the festival.

In 2023, we developed Dea Elementa for the VONK light art festival.
This installation served as a central beacon for the festival theme, “Wij, De Aarde.”
The installation represented the goddess of the natural elements, tasked with overseeing the festival grounds at Fort De Batterijen in Nieuwegein.
Our goal was to create a space that functioned as both a playground and a reflective environment. Visitors were invited to engage with the projection to connect with their own elemental traits.
By making the experience accessible to all ages, we ensured the artwork acted as a focal point for social interaction at the heart of the festival.
Beyond the creation of Dea Elementa, Lotte also curated the wider art route for VONK 2023, selecting 17 additional artworks that complemented the festival’s environmental theme.
Following its debut, Dea Elementa was adapted for the 15-year anniversary celebration of Theater aan de Slinger, a good first run to test the portability and modular nature of this work.
